Sailing on

There is no better way to say good-bye to Turkey than with a Blue Cruise. And that is just what I did, setting sail on the beautiful Timer with 3 good friends and an amazing staff of captain, captain’s mate and chef (who could have worked in a 3-star restaurant had he such intentions)*.

What better way to toast Turkey than onboard a beautiful boat, surrounded by azure waters, majestic scenery, delicious food, and friends with whom you laugh so hard it’s the best abdominal workout that exists?

Of course, I hope to visit Turkey’s shores again, but it will be as a visitor, not as a person who has found herself lucky enough to reside in this magical place if only for a short time.

Next stop: Switzerland. While I say a fond farewell to Turkish delights, I look forward to exploring the many delights that Switzerland has to offer.

Heartfelt thanks to the people of Turkey who welcomed me with open arms, smiles and so much warmth despite my Turkish being shamefully “az”. It has been an honor and a privilege to make port on your shores, if only for these seemingly short 3.5 years.

And thanks to the readers who still stop on by to catch a glimpse of our life in Turkey, despite the scarcity and randomness of posts in the past year+ as I focused on business.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
~Mark Twain

I wish you all happy sailing.
